karma: 9 | My DIY first aid kits with templates
Inspired by Stephanie, I made these first aid kits.
(link to stephanie’s) My semi-DIY First Aid kits
The boxes were 97 cents at target in the travel section (with the little shampoos, etc.) They came with the bandaids, guaze, and wipes. I added the Q-tips, lip balm, and Advil/ Imodium packets. I typed up the safety info for the Imodium & Advil & put it in the packets.
I’m still waiting on my lip balm labels to arrive. Lip Balm Labels
My imodium packets (including template) Cheap option for Imodium AD packets in OOT bags
A powerpoint with my cover image (from Stephanie), advil packets, and drug safety sheets is attached. Feel free to “borrow” it.
If it isn’t clear from the picture, the packets are 4x4 squares of paper. I folded them & taped them to make a little envelope.
I will add the pills when I get to Mexico, because they need to be in their original container for customs.

Here is the template. It includes the safety sheets, advil packets, and the cover image.

I thought I'd just add what all I am putting in our OOT bags
First aid kits
cup with guests names painted on them
small combo master lock for luggage with safety tips
3 riviera maya postcards
OK magazines (from my subscription)
left to buy/make
water & snacks we buy when we get there
spanish to english phrases
tote bags
photo share card
welcome letter
things to do in RM brochure
I just did an estimate of what I've spent per pag. This is assuming I'll make 16. I still don't really know who many guests well have. I'm doing 1 bag per room.
total per bag
OOT bag 3 postcards per person 10 .63 (with 52 leftover)
OOT bag cups 3.2 .25
OOT bag first aid kits (14) 15 1
OOT bag 96 immodium 10 .63
OOT bags advil 5 .31
OOT bag SPF chapstick (30) (ebay) 7.57 .47 (with 14 leftover- will probably give 2 per person)
OOT bag misc printing 20 1.25
OOT bag totes 16 1
OOT bags master locks (16) 36 2.25
magazines 0
kleenex 4 .25
I'm at about $8 per bag ($128 ) & I still need to buy snacks to add to it. Crazy how fast it adds up. The locks were the most expensive, but I really like them. I can program the combo to be anything. I really wanted to do what I could to keep our guests stuff safe.

Here is what I have so far. The locks haven't come in. I also haven't bought the actual bags. I wanted to keep the contents small so it was easy to pack.
I also have the welcome letter & more paper stuff to print. I will probably throw in post its & a pen. |

Ohhhh....you used Brain Candy!! <laughs> I LOVE that!!! Very cool.
I have a question....where are you getting your tote bags? I was looking at the ones on Oriental Trading POst. They are cheap, but upon looking at them...they are VERY small. Where are you getting yours? I only want to spend like, a dollar on them...but I don't want teeny tiny ones either.

I'm waiting until the spring when there is more likely to be cute, cheap totes in stores. I only want to spend a dollar, too.
