hey ladies,
I used selloffvacations to book our trip in April 08, to Dreams PC, and we booked 11 people at once and they each paid $1355 taxes incl. they all had to put a $100 deposit, and pay the rest 3 weeks later, but it worked out perfectly. We booked for 2 weeks, and got the honeymoon suite for week 1, then a deluxe room for the 2nd week all for under $5000 for the both of us. Since we have had other people book and the price is still under $1500 per person ...

I know that this may be a dumb question but what type of room was the quote for. I have found deluxe rooms at Dreams for around $1500 (including the tax) on line based on double occupancy. This was flying form Vancouver and could have been a last minute deal though.

All of the quotes that we got were standard rooms, double occupancy. Which site were you on? We've looked at ever site possible and are finding nothing at that price!!!! Hopefully we'll find something soon though!

I'm going to DR too and my rates were higher than I expected. For 7nts it's 2100 pp and for 4 nts I think it's $1450 pp

I recently got a group quote for $1810 pp taxes in based dbl occupacy from Halifax for Melia Caribe Royal Suites for 1 week in late April 2009 from my TA who did a special request for quotes from the tour groups (Sunquest, Air Canada and Air Transat) for Atlantic Canada.

I just got rates from my travel agent for the Colony Bay resort in Punta Cana and they are about $1900.00 for 1 week and about $2500.00 for 2 weeks. Its leaving from Regina January 7/09.

Excited Ottawa, 1200 is about right... BUT it depends on which resort, also. The Majestic is one of the more expensive resorts, so that right there will up the costs. When selecting the resort we were going to get married at, we picked one where that would be a reasonable price for everyne to travel to. As the time gets closer to yoru wedding, the prices will go up in airfare, but since Feb 2009 is so far off, I would DEF be calling other travel agencies (at least ten) cause it sounds as if they are way over-quoting you. That is insane.

I got quotes from Marlin Travel, Algonquin travel and selloffvacations.
Itravel is being SUPER slow, so nothing from them yet.
They contacted aircanada vacations and Sunquest directly to get the estimated quote. Unfortunately, it is just an estimate since May 2009 is still to far. PM me if you want the exact figures :)

GOod luck! | I thought it was a bit much, esp. when we're probably taking about 50 people with us!! Which is also why I don't want to take too long to book flights, b/c there are so many of us!!! Still searching though, we've talked to 6 TAs so far, and still the same prices...beinging to lose hope!!!! Thanks for your help though!!

I know IM a little late to this but here are some things that may help to keep the prices down.
Use the cheapers aiport to fly out of. I live closer to the Manchester airport in NH. But it is much cheaper to fly out of the Boston aiport in Mass, that is a little over 1 1/2 hours from us.
Also be carefull with the days you pick to fly. Our price quote jumped way up when we picked Saturday to Saturday, So we went with Friday to Friday.
Our price including tax, flight, JR suite, transportation to and from resort came to 1250 a person. Thats a great deal!!
we booked at Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana ... Suppose to be a 5 Star resort and all rooms are Jr Suites.
