Dreams vs. non-inclusive sight

Recommended Posts

Hello, Ladies! I am brand new to the destination wedding planning and am seeking some advice!!! I orginally had my heart set on a wedding at Fiesta Americana (my fiance, Dave, and I JUST got back from a week long vacation there and we fell in love with it...)with a small reception there, or at Puerto Vieja. After reading up on the blogs and going to the Dreams website, I'm wondering if would be less expensive for my guests to stay at Dreams vs. any other place. We have between 20-30 guests who might come. This is just an email to see how you all decided where you're having your wedding!!! Kind of silly, I know!! I've been in contact with a WC from Baja Weddings, and am waiting to hear back from someone at Dreams. Any thoughts on how you decided on your site would be appreciated!!

Dana

PS i tried to post a picture on here, but haven't been able to figure out how!

We choose Dreams Cabo after staying there in 2005. We found an all inclusive easier on our guests (they know the exact cost going into the trip) and it was very easy on our pocket books too.. we had a great experience as did others. (check out the reviews section and I have a link on my siggy.)

It does depend on your guests.. ours were big drinkers. It's def better if you get the majority of your guests to stay at one spot.. the day pass per person at Dreams can get to be very expensive if you decide to pay for it. FYI.. some of your guests are going to balk at any prices you give them. Just find a place that you love (that's within your budget of course) and go with it.. You have to be ready for crabby people with any destination wedding.. have it somewhere that you and your FI love. Others will love it based on your enthusiasm.. otherwise they can stay home.. :)

You should check with a TA or just go to their website and type in your dates.. a Travel Agent will almost always be able to get you a cheaper rate but that will give you comparison numbers.

I heard you mention Baja Weddings-is that by any chance with Karla? Just a quick heads up I had a horrible experiance with her. As soon as we paid her a deposit I never really heard from her? I am not sure if she was over booked that month or what but it was terrible. In the end we got out money back...

It wasn't Karla....but I think i've decided against using them as my Wedding Planners...everything they quoted me on seemed so expensive--it was hard for me to tell if that's just the way things are here or not...

When I emailed her about the expense, she rather rudely told me that's just how things are there, and that it's just as expensive for those who live on the island.

True or not, i'm going to examine some other outlets for a WC.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
