Hi all,
I just got engaged a couple weeks ago. The fiance and I are looking for the best resort/island to have our wedding. The issue is we are still trying to do a traditional church wedding with a beach reception. Looking forward to ideas and suggestions. It's definitely a bit overwhelming right now.

I think you'll fid that many places through mexico and central america will offer you the option of a church wedding and a beach reception.
MariaElena just had a gorgeous wedding at the catholic church in San Jose del Cabo and then had a lovely reception beachside at the Hilton Los Cabos. I'm sure that many places in these parts of the world will have churches most will be Catholic i would think but there may be others.

Hey SuzyQ, welcome to the board. In Mexico you will definitely not have a problem finding a Catholic church to get married in. You did not mention your denomination, so I'm not sure if that helps you out.
And as far as being overwhelmed, we can all totally relate girl! I would seriously reccomend taking a chill pill for a while & just let the engagement sink in - take some time to enjoy it for a bit, if you can, before embarking on the planning process. I only offer this advice from experience.

Welcome to the board, there is a great group of girls on here that will be of great help in your planning process. I was just like you, I knew we wanted to be married in Cabo, however I knew "nothing" about it. Read up on all the wonderful posts, and maybe it will help narrow it down for you. And of course don't be affraid to ask questions. HAVE FUN in the planning, I know it can be stressful at times but we'll help in any way we can.

Welcome aboard!!!!! You have more options than you think especially if you are Catholic. Let your first decision be location. Once you have decided then your options will reduce drastically and it won't seem so overwhelmng?
I am a Cabo bride myself, but you must decide what "feel" you want for your wedding and how much you want to pay/guests pay to get there.
Good luck!!!!

welcome suzy,
I just got engaged a few weeks ago too, and I feel the same way! So overwhelmed. I thought it was going to be so easy too because my fiancee and I both wanted to do cabo, so no decisions to make, but then I found out because we're in massachusetts that we were probably going to be paying a lot for flights, so now I'm looking at Riviera Maya, and there are a ton of different resorts. But everyone on here is very helpful, there is tons of information and different ideas. I think I'm settling on Dreams Cancun for my wedding next October, but who knows I change my mind 10 times a day! Let me know if you need any help.

welcome!
there are loads of beautiful resorts in the Carribean - Jamaica is a popular place. I've seen some gorgeous weddings at the Rockhouse Resort there. Lots of us on here are Cabo brides, but don't let that intimidate you. There are so many great options for DWs....
Hawaii, while quite a flight from the East Coast, is also a great option for DWs and you don't have to jump through all of the legal hoops to be married there. good luck!
