I am fortunate enough to be working for a dress company. We selected the body and fabric and had it made in house for less than $600...
I did splurge on a pair of fabulous Dolce Gabbana strappies to wear with the dress!

I budgeted $1500 for a dress and found one for $1600. Oh, well! I love it! I stayed close to my budget being choosey about what stores to enter! I avoided stores where dress were over $2000. I'm sure I could've easily found a dress there but I wasn't going to blow my budget (by much anyway)!

I suggest you check out those sample sales. There was a designer sample sale around my area and the original price of those gown range from $3000 to $10,000 and the sample sale price was everything under $999. I'm sure you'll find some really nice gowns that will fit you.

My dress was $2800 plus $60 for alterations. I bought mine at a sample sale. The dress retailed for $10k. There is no way I could have afforded that! That would almost cost as much as the wedding!!!!

Mine was 850$ + tax = 960 plus 80$ for alterations

I voted the $2K- but only bc I bought two-- my actual wedding dress is a Watters and was $1,200 and I love it.... I bought my Hjelms for a private dinner in Mexico and for the AHR here at home.... The Hjelms was more expensive than the Watters- I kinda regret buying it bc my spending got out of control-- I love it! - but it was bought in a "diva" moment- that I've regretted since :)
My shoes were nine west flipflops for $69 and my alterations for both dresses were a staggering $575-- I threw up (literally) went I got home from paying for those.
This is definitely my last post-- I'm feeling a tad nauseous thinking about the money I spent.....

I am hoping to stay in the 3-600 range for the dress. Although, deep down I know that if I see something I really like I genereally buy it, especially if it looks great.
