Hello Edenh Brides, If you're looking for a religious ceremony (non-catholic) you're better off finding him on your own. The resort wasn't much help. I'm so happy I found Pastor York. After countless google searches I came across his website and emailed him. He was quick to respond and sent me my ceremony and sand ceremony readings already (with option to alter if needed). Here is his website. I'm excited!! Eastern Dominican Christian Mission |

Not sure if this is the place to write this but I write back and forth you ladies the most, so here it is. We were contemplating having an at home reception when we get back from the DR. My parents want to do it their way and my FI's parents want to do it their way. In the end, I would not like to have anything since our familes can't agree and I don't want our wedding in Punta Cana to be spoiled. Our families are from diff worlds and have an idea of what a reception should look like. It is also going to be hard to compromise, so I thought we would just have two separate lucnhes, one with my fam and one with his? Tell me your thoughts. J.

J. | It's YOUR day, and therefore YOUR decision. I have a similar situation, my parents think you need to have a big to-do when it comes to the reception, and FI's parents think that we could just have a small get-together, so we're either not having anything, or we're just going to have something at our house for anyone who wants to show up. We're not getting married for gifts and big receptions, we're getting married so we can be husband and wife, so a reception is out for us :) But just remember it's your day, so as long as you and your FI are happy, then nobody else matters ^_^

It doesn't take long to add up the points. Read and respond and the points add up. You need 40 (if I recall correctly) to open attachments.

I wore shite shorts and a white tank top with my veil for fun...We had a great time and it was very casual. We played Dominican music I got at the Airport on the way home and we made Coco Locos with real coconuts...We looked for Caribbean recepies like coconut rice and beens and grilled pork with rum....We made many copys of our wedding DVD and wrapped it in white lace with a shell and gave everyone a copy as a favour....
Keep it casual and fun, this is your time not your parents....I am lucky that my son and daughter in law want me so involved, but if they ever said they wanted to do this alone I would back right off and let them do it.

And I can promise you that your son's future wife is VERY appreciative, expecially if she's ever talked to any bride with a controlling FMIL lol

It is my mom and my step dad that were stressing me out a bout the at-home reception. They want to do it their way. So we decided not to do anything since we wouldn't be around to plan it and make decision. We live overseas so we would basically be leaving it up to our parents who do not know each other well to plan together. That is not an option. We told everyone to concentrate on getting to and having fun at the destination wedding!
