Is the goal not to limit the number of threads posted, but to limit the number of threads that say the exact same thing?

I think it has been fun to see old threads revivied after this post. I can see how there really were just a few brides in the beginning.
the goal is to limit the # of threads on the same topic. We don't mind people starting new threads, its more that its tiring to see the same topic started over and over again. Like has anyone ever made boarding pass STD's...well the answer is yes and there are like 10 different threads on it.
We do clean out the Chit Chat corner every so often so post away in those areas and feel free to bring back old threads, its nice to remember back when some of us were still brides to be!

I agree, I think the problem is that people get too lazy to do a search, I swear every day their is several posts that pop up on a topic that has already been discussed in great detail. We are really trying to keep the forum running smooth, but the fact is, we are running out of space, if we don't start to "REALLY" crack down on this then things will have to change.

BTW, new members are sent an email automaticaly and it lists how to search in that email. My guess is that some people just doesn't take the time to read it.

Is there an easy way to have one of those check boxes for "I have read/agree to the rules" before someone can proceed, like some sites have?

I know some people are just lazy regardless, but maybe some people don't knowingly dismiss the how-tos...maybe they are so excited to get into the forum that they ignore email they are sent since it doesn't say "Dreams" or whatever their topic of interest is. Well I guess that's lazy too....just a thought :)

Great thread! I am not sure if this is a huge PITA, but is there a way to "pin" this thread, and the "How to do a Search" thread, in each of the location categories? I know that several people (especially newbies) will just go directly to the "Jamaica" posts for example, and dont think to check these other areas. If these topics were pinned there they would see them and read them!

Good idea! Because God knows the people that need to read this post are not going to find it on their own.

Thanks girls for all the input. Its good to hear advice on how we can make things easier for everyone.

~Jason I think I peed my pants. I'm not sure if I did or not. I was gonna do a search to see if anyone else has ever peed their pants from laughing too hard at a post, but I just got so lazy. So I'm off to start a thread about it. LOL. Jason you crack me up.

All these things come up if you search "peed my pants."

Also just to clarify a little,

If you made your invites or just got them in the mail and you want to show us, by all means start a thread and show them off! We love seeing pics of wedding stuff. This is a wedding forum after all. The pic of your invite or your instructions on how you did it yourself can really help a lot of members out there. What we don't want is for you to start a thread asking if anyone has ever made boarding pass STD's b/c there are tons of how-to's in this forum that will guide you step by step on how to make them. So in conclusion:

1. Starting a thread to show off your boarding pass save the dates
2. Starting a thread asking us for a template for boarding pass save the dates

I was worried I was becoming an enabler by giving people too much info if they aren't willing to search for it themselves. I'm starting to suggest searching instead of posting it for them. Unless it's a tricky to find post.

I think in the future if newbies ask too many questions, I'll direct them to the search for "peed my pants."
