karma: 2 | EDR Day Passes?
Some of FI's cousins are trying to save money, and stay at a more affordable resort.
So I am curious, does anyone know how the EDR Day pass system work? Does the guest get to use all the facilities, including restaurants and bars for the day? Do they get a towel or do they have to bring their own?
How does the management know which guests are day only and which are actually staying since EDR does not use wrist bands?
I am trying to figure out, if they have to come onto the property say 2-3 days - is it worth it for them to stay at an AI or non-AI resort.
Thanks in advance!!

Good question! I was thinking about just the same thing recently! We have to get a day pass for our photographers and for four guests who will be staying in different hotels....

We have only one guest pass and it is for our photographer's assistant (getting the photog a room for one night). We ordered it from Valeria and I'm pretty sure it's $72 and is only good for eight hours. I think for those eight hours they are essentially a normal guest but double check with your WC.
I would think if they are coming more than one day it may be worth it. Maybe they could stay those nights at EDR and a few other nights at a less expensive resort.

This is the response I got from the resort:
Hello Jennette,
Thank you for your email, I apologize for the delay.
In regards to day passes, they allow you to use all the facilities and
features our hotels have. There are no restrictions of what restaurants to
eat or anything like that. If you have any other questions or concerns,
please feel free to contact me. Have a great day and hope you have a great
trip.

Hmm from our experience with the Riu, they didn't notice if people had a 1 day pass or 3 day pass. The people who purchased a 1 day pass kept comming back and staff didn't say anything.
Good luck jennette with everything. Your day is comming so soon!!

I have some family doing the same thing :) | Well, I guess from their perspective they don't need to know, since the day pass allows you all the access a resort guest would have. Though they can probably kinda tell who is not staying there as a guest, because they probably walk in with uncertainity or whatever. I would also guess they could tell if they don't have a resort towel. and I guess they can always ask what room number!
However, I think there is system is definitly not perfect and there is probably alot of room for sneakiness!!

However, I think there is system is definitly not perfect and there is probably alot of room for sneakiness!! | I would imagine they have you check in at the lobby to pick up your guest pass, and that you need to show up and check back out and turn it in 8 hours later...
There's nothing around the resort, and a mile or so out to the main highway. If you turn in your guest pass, there's nothing left to do but get into a cab and leave. They could easily watch that...
As for your time on the resort. They do ask your room number a great deal of the time. We were never quite sure what they did with it, and whether they tracked what you were doing, eating, drinking, or not.
Based on how far away any other places would be from there, the cost of transportation to get to the resort, and the inconvenience, we recommended our guests just stay there.
I really don't think that saving $100 on the "room" would amount to much once you come and go via cab, and miss out on all of the fun!!!
Just my two cents... Of course, I had no direct experience with the guest pass system!

Bre, My question is regarding your photographer. We were told you had to either pay $500 or pay for 3 nights for an outside photog. How did you get by with 1 night and a guest pass?
