Target Registry Rules

Recommended Posts

A bunch of threads have been popping up about registry and made me remember targets exchange policy. My sister got married in May and had some things that she wanted to return. They told her she could not return/exchange anything because there was a limit (like $100). I thought that was ridiculous because of course your going to need to return duplicates, stuff that you may not like, and she couldnt. She had to give them her drivers liscence and they record how much you exchange/return that way. Does anyone know anything about this.... target is my fav and would love to register there, but not if this is how it works.

Target is a good store, BUT their return policy SUCKS!

Here's a warning, if you register and need to return / exchange stuff, they will only allow you to return 2 items per year without a reciept. And I hightly doubt, guests will give a reciept with the gift.

Your best bet is to look for another store to register.

I registered at Bed Bath & Beyond and LOVE it. Their registry is open for 2 years after the event date AND you can use the 20% coupons they send in the mail (even after its expiration date) and they will send you an additional 10% coupon to use on all items to complete your registry. They will also alow brides to return/exchange items without a receipt.

I don't know if their registry return policy is different than there normal return policy, but I went there two weeks ago to return a DVD player that I had won at our xmas party. I have 2 I didn't need another one and it said right on the package that it was from target.

Well, because I didn't have the receipt and the value was over $25 I couldn't return it. I was so pissed, talk about a ridiculous policy, it's enough to make me not want to shop there.

I registered at macy's and linens and things and had no problems with returns.

I wish I would have seen this before I registered at Target. I only registered for a few things though. We picked Target becuase they are so reasonable and I already have started getting a new dish pattern from there. I say started becuase it is an open stock pattern and I have not been able to get all my place settings at any of the four different Targets between Buffalo and Rochester!

Target started this new policy a few years ago. Its a huge PITA!!!! I wound up doing a baby registry at Target, but did not do a wedding registry mainly because of this problem.

I have heard BBB is awesome with returns, in fact I heard some stores will even give you cash back
