I plan on getting married there in Oct and will definitely be aware of this. I think thats really shady. Ive kept thinking its easy to get srewed when you go by consumption and who wants to be stressing about that on their wedding day. I think Ill bring this situation up to Emma and ask her if I should be concerned. They should know that SMLs reputation is on the line and at least return your message.

Thanks for the advice. I have already started saving the emails in a folder and we had discussed paying by the hour for open bar so I think this will help us finalize our decision. Also, did you have troubles getting Emma to respond your emails? I have emailed her twice in the last 2 and a half weeks and have yet to hear from her! This is the first trouble I've had with her, she usually responds within a few days. Grrr!

Sometimes she is great at getting back to you, sometimes not. My concern when I was planning my wedding was not the lack of communication but she would e-mail you and promise something and then later would change it. For example, she would promise that kids are free. But in our bill we were charged for the kids. And of course there are those extra charges with my wedding vendors who were not served their meals but we were billed for them and the 163 bottles of Fiji water!. My problem was at the end of the wedding night, you do not see the errors in your bill because you are too tired, etc. It is not like you are in a resort and you can settle the matter the next day because you are staying at the resort. Sometimes you only find out what really transpired (vendors not getting their meals) days after the wedding.

We are having our reception dinner at SSML & now i'm freaking out. I will be sure to keep all emails from Emma. I hope things get figured out soon for you! Best of luck & keep us all posted.

Please don't be nervous. SML is beautiful and I think if you pay Open Bar by the hour that is the best way to go. And keep all documentation. Also make sure your wedding coordinator is aware of every transaction with Emma. I have sent my credit card company the e-mails from Emma and receipts from Sunset da Mona LIsa. It is now in dispute. I will keep you updated.

Oh my Lord, I have not been on the site for quite some time but am not surprised by this email string. As Jessica recommends, be sure all important decisions between yourself and SML are documented via email. Emma WILL agree to one thing and change it, if it does not benefit SML, weeks before your wedding date. They tried to pull a couple of fast ones weeks before our wedding but, fortunately, I had email backing up what Emma had promised to me.

The venue is amazing but I fear the demand for events is so high, there, they feel they could charge additional $$ and not act in a professional mannger. Keeping everything in writing will guarantee an amazing wedding. Your WC should be in the loop, as well. We used a local WC, and she was able to go to the restaurant when Emma would go MIA when we needed important updates from her.
