Dancing and Partying at Las Caletas?

Loads of you have recommended Las Caletas for several reasons - affordability, privacy, gorgeous location, etc. BUT after viewing the site and looking at many pictures I have yet to see any with people really dancing. What I mean is getting down and crazy, groovin' on the dance floor, funky chicken and all. Also, I don't see many crazy drunk fun photos. Those are always the best...but perhaps you edited them out? ha!

So my questions remain:

1) Can people really dance at Las Caletas or is it just there for show?
2) Do people continue the party after the hour boat ride back to land or do they head to bed? I imagine the boat ride is probably a buzz kill no?

We're not massive party animals, but we really want a big celebration (my fiance is Australian, so it runs in their blood), and we're all about having a great time and plan on partying till our feet fall off. Open bar, great music, dancing and food are the most important catagories for us. Sugar and spice and everything nice is secondary.

So then you definitely must not have talked to Jamy yet (starchild)! Hers was a huge party, and continued, or dare I say got a little crazier, on the boat. People definitely danced like crazy at my wedding, and Jamy's as well - and I know all of the weddings I've seen I saw people shaking their stuff on the dance floor at Caletas. Have you seen my pics? Jamy's? I honestly wouldn't let this be a concern ... your reception is what you make it. And I'm fairly confident that the other Caletas brides will back me up here! You can definitely make your wedding a huge party - as cazy as you want to!

Another thing to consider, I don't know that drunken, grinding, sloppy dancing is what a professional photog is going to focus on - so perhaps that's why you're not seeing a ton of that in the professional photos. But here are some of mine ...

I was going to bring up Jamy's pics. I recall seeing one of her dancing on the boat with the captain...haha!

oh yea - she wasn't just dancing with him, she was grinding on him! lol - it was hilarious! there was a lot of pole dancing on the boat at my reception for some reason ... apparently we have a lot of closet exotic dancers in our group!

I really think that the party is what you and your guests make it. If you have a fun crowd you will have a party no matter what. At my wedding the bar stopped at 11. So, because we have a big fun party crowd, we paid the guys that worked there to go and get us lots and lots of alcohol and we kept dancing till the wee hours of the morning. They literally had to take the tables and stuff down while we were dancing and partying. I just said leave the music, take the rest, they even took the dance floor from under us, and that still did not stop us. SOOOO, what I am trying to say it you make the party, not the place you are partying in.

Love it! Thanks for these. We will have a pretty crazy group of Irish, Aussies and a few Kiwi's in the mix and they take it a notch when it comes to partying so we really want to show them a good time. Thanks for sharing. How did you get around the setting of the sun so quickly?

well we were married in June - so that helped. but it just wasn't an issue ... i think the ceremony was around 6:20ish, and was pretty quick. then maybe 30 minutes for group pictures. our cake cutting pics were in the dark - but personally, i think it's pretty cool. our first dance was in the dark as well.

Now you can book weddings on Sundays for the same price (before it was twice as much.) I believe that you can choose your hours more freely too. Any other day the boat will not leave the marina before 4:30 because of the day tours. Sunday there isn't any. Ask Tara- I believe she booked a Sunday date for this reason. She was really concerned with the daylight. I was too and when I originally booked Sunday was EXPENSIVE. I got over it because it's so beautiful and I didn't want to pass up LC just for that one issue.

As for the partying, I completely agree with Julie. The party is what you make of it. Some of my friends have had the best parties in slums of bars. I don't think it matters where you are to have a good time. Plus the boat ride back is still open bar. I don't see why the party would stop once on the boat. Plus who couldn't party on a private beach with an open bar? That sounds like a slice of heaven to me.

I also agree that you should check out Jamy's (starchild) pics. Her group had a helluva time!

If this sounds harsh it's nothing personal, but you couldn't be more wrong! It is the party place. Open bar starts on the boat before you even pull off, runs through the night, and stops when the boat stops and your guests get off to go home.

Julie said it well - some people don't dance, no matter where they are so don't use the location as a barometer for that. Know your guests - I know mine, and they could start a dance party on the sidewalk...put them on a dance floor in the jungle and watch out! We aren't the funky chicken kind of crowd but we definitely got down - from the 4 year old to the 68 year old.

A party boat with open bar and loud bumping music in Mexico is not a buzz kill. Get on one and you'll see what we mean!! If your guests are party people they won't shut down once they get on the boat. If anything the party will intensify! Shoot, we were doing shots on the boat home with the minister...and yes, I was grinding all on the captain (who was a hottie by the way)!

My crowd drank to excess, danced til the boat docked to go home, and I won't get into the sex again....read the LC thread for that :o)

If you bring a party crowd to LC, the only problem you'll have is picking a club for the afterparty......I suggest The Zoo where we went and partied until 5am. See my Zoo review in the PV section.
