We registered but only after a bunch of people kept asking us where we were registered. Many people were unable to make the trip and wanted to get us something. Some people who weren't even invited wished us well and sent us a gift!

As for as a shower and bachelorette parties.. my 3 bridesmaids did everything and almost all the local female guests attended.

I had a personal shower so I got lots of lingerie and fun stuff to wear in Mexico. The bachelorette wasn't too expensive, local train ride and food/drinks during the day in Santa Barbara, sleepover that night.

The shower was about 1.5 months before the wedding and the bachelor/bachelorette was two weeks before.

my sister & mom had the shower for me and yes we did register. We had a lot of people that we knew wouldn't be able to make it, so we weren't really concerned about it being too much for people. And we registered just so we didn't get a bunch of stuff we didn't need because we already have a house and a lot of crap, so there were a lot of typical shower gift items that we didn't need.

we're actually still getting gifts from people that couldn't make it.

I think people naturally want to throw a shower and bachelorette party for you...I already have my friends begging me to host them! Plus I have alot of friends who won't be able to make the wedding and this will be a chance for me to spend wedding related time with them...since i won't be having an AHR.....

We registered at Macy's and JC Penneys. Oh and hubby threw in REI too because there wasn't enough sporty man stuff at the other 2. We also are still getting gifts from the registries. It's a nice bonus because we really didn't expect or need much.

I intitally had Pottery Barn but was not pleased with their customer service so I deleted that and added Penneys.

I wasn't sure about this either, but my BMs told me they were having a shower regardless, so I registered at Target and Bed Bath & Beyond. More than half of my guest list (200 people) can't make it, so I know that some of those people will probably want to send a gift and this will make it easier for them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
