My Wedding Review

Recommended Posts

Riu Cabo San Lucas - A: Riu is beautiful, the food is good and the drinks are a plenty. If you want big cups for the pool etc, bring your own. Daniela the new coordinator is great but bring all your paper work because she won't honor any previous agreements made with Adriana unless you have it in writing. The beach is beautiful and the pictures will be amazing. It was a super pain to walk up and down all those stairs for pictures in a wedding dress. I bought sandals with a big wedge heel to wear adn I am so thankful I did. The food at the Mexican Terrace was good but nothing so fabulous I will crave the rest of my life. We had to pay for the bar - totally worth it with our group because people had mojitos and vodka drinks and we drank our weight in champagne. The dj messed up our music for walking down the aisle - our MP3 player he couldnt figure out. Bryan walked to Billy Idol - White Wedding and I did too - and then we walked back up to Etta James - At Last instead of U2 - beautiful day. If this is important to you - be aware. Also, we requested a tiramisu or chocolate banana cake for our wedding cake (we paid per person for the cake since we got the basic package and it wasnt included) and got a white cake with white icing. It was gross but luckily I dont like sweets that much so i didnt care. I threw it on the beach to the puppies at the end of the night (which made my trip...i have pictures...) adn while I know the puppies probably got sick tummies, at least they were full tummies. All in all the wedding was fabulous and we had fun... oh my only other complaint is that I gave Daniela the film for our polaroid camera guest book to put out with all the other decorations and the film never made it there - so we didnt get pictures of everyone..total bummer.

Pearl's Place - Ordered my dress online - it was cheap, authentic and perfect plus it came in on time - totally recommend getting pricing from them - they are in Atlanta GA

Juan Carlos Tapia - A+++ so far seeing as I havent seen the pictures. He was fun and great and really into taking amazing pictures. I know they will be great and I can't wait. Can't say enough great things about him.

Wright Travel Agency - Tammy (Host) A+++ she has been a dream to work with and somehow managed to be available and helpful with a newborn. Definitely recommend using her because she made the travel part easy.

Renova Spa- Riu Cabo San Lucas C- My maid of honor hated her hair and mine looked like some sort of 1995 prom do with way to much slicked back etc. Luckily my friend was with us who is a magician and made us both look human and pretty. In hindsight I would have rather had done my hair myself because while I liked it and my friend fixed it - it was a waste of money. My Maid of Honor has very curly hair and they brushed it out and made it into this henious frizzball.

Westin Hotel Cabo - C The hotel is amazing and truely gorgeous. THe rooms are serene and if you love architecture (I am an interior designer) this place is unreal. VEry quiet and under renovations when we were there and far from Cabo. Bad part of the hotel = Saturday we woke up and had a big buffet breakfast and then headed to the pool. I am a big drinker and live in Florida so am used to Margaritas and beers mid day in the sun. I had three margaritas in three hours and was trashed - couldnt talk and blacked out - basically, the bartender slipped a roofie in my drink. Not good. Luckily we went back to our room and slept - after two hours of sleep I woke up still trashed and thats when we realized something was wrong. My FI talked to the manager and they offered to move us to another hotel for free etc. I spent the entire night on the bathroom floor vomitting. We opted not to move hotels because it was too much work for one last night. THey comp'd all our food and were very apologetic. It worked out becasue we laid in bed the whole time and ate room service (very good) and watched movies. But ladies, beware - Mexico is where they make roofies and I guess this is not uncommon.

Ugh Toby that's awful...that happened to me in a bar at home! I'd only had 2 beers and couldn't talk, could barely walk, my friends had to practically carry me out of the bar. I don't remember a thing about that night, and I was so sick the whole next day...

It's so scary - I'm sorry that happened to you! sad.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
