Angela's (cheese_diva) planning w/ pics

Recommended Posts

Thank you girls for all you help and support over the past few months. It’s because of all of you, I got through all the craziness of planning and second guessing. I was also put in contact with so many great vendors I never would have found on my own.

I hope some of my ideas and projects help others just starting out.

Wedding Dress: Casablanca 1828

Casablanca dresses never get discontinued and are fully customizable. You can change the neckline, top, bottom, etc and they come direct from the manufacturer.

I however found my dress on e-bay. I was pretty clueless on how much dresses cost so I’m glad I got such great deal. $225 (including shipping) A bridal store was selling their some of their sample dresses. While it was not used, it had been tried on by many girls. It was received with no stains and in very good condition.

Makeup/Hair- Had a trial in June, but didn't want to do same exact thing because we were having engagement photos taken. (and Matt was there!)

Makeup was a little strong, but hair was beautiful.

Wedding Day Jewelry

Earrings

Ordered these but have not received yet. Madeline's Chandeliers

I normally always wear my diamond studs and rarely change. Because I’m not wearing a necklace or bracelet, I want sparkly earrings but didn’t want to pay a lot for something I probably wouldn’t wear again. These aren’t too long and I hope when they come, they’re good quality.

Backup: Whiteaisle.com. The are gorgeous!!! My only concern is that they’re 2.5” long and with my hair up, I’ll be all earrings. ? I’ll probably sell after the wedding but bring in case my 2nd order doesn’t make it in time. The photos on their sites do not do their jewelry justice.

Hair Barrette- also from Whiteaisle.com. I’m very excited to wear this. It’s sooo pretty in person and there is nothing cheap about the piece. It actually has a nice weight to it and feels very solid. I would think this could easily sell for $40+.

Courthouse earrings. Had these made from etsy.com KimberlyAnn's

This vendor was sooo wonderful to work with. She custom made bracelets and earrings for my bridesmaids and when I couldn't find something to match my great-grandmother's necklace, she created these gold and pearl bead earrings.. very pretty! She even threw in a cute pair of earrings for free!

Bridesmaid Dresses- Nordstrom's - great return policy and very helpful via phone when trying to track down a size that was no longer showing on website. My 3 girls are all different sizes so this dress was great for all.

Save The Dates- Printed at Vistaprint.com

DIY design. I really love the boarding pass invites but knew I didnâ€t have the patience. Because we created a website, I wanted to just send postcards out directing people to our site. They turned out pretty cute and VistaPrint.com and their free postcard offer was great.

Guestbook- Photobook from MPix. I donâ€t love the quality but I think the idea is very cute. I was expecting glossy photo paper but instead itâ€s matte. At least it will be easier to write on it. Design is a chronological order of our life so far stating with 2003 and going until present. It includes photos of us fixing up our first house, our cat, and some of the many trips weâ€ve taken together. Iâ€m a bit of moron and made the type on the first page huge.. oh well. The cover says “The Story of Us†Throughout are quotes I thought were cute.

Weâ€ve gotten so many comments about how beautiful our invites are. Lots of people took them to work to show others. They came in a box to all our guests and Iâ€ve very glad we chose to have Brittany and her team design and print these for us. Some things are best left up to the professionals and she did a great job! I would recommend Brittany to anyone looking invitations.

Everything else I did on my own using our color printer at home. I did order cut paper for the backing sheets and place cards using the same paper stock from our invitations. Envelopements brand. Colors: Belize and Cocoa. The white paper is cardstock. Manufacturer: Wausau Paper

Place cards

Take note. Starfish are stinky.. I left them outside in an opened box in the sun for well over a month and they still stunk. Fabreeze… just spray them and they smell so much better!

1. Make two quick vertical cuts so trim marks show at edge of paper

2. Align paper on bottom straight edge of cutter and make both horizontal cuts

3. Vertical lines next. Itâ€s ok if some of the light grey marks show.

4. Round all 4 corners with corner punch

5. Round corners of blue backing sheet

6. Center and adhere to backing Blue backing sheet

7. Afix aqua crystal to center of flourish using a glue dot ripped in half (or less)

The Key: to get the cuts straight, otherwise they look really crooked w/ backing sheet

Tools: paper cutter, adhesive runner, clear crystals, glue dots, round corner punch

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
