karma: 3 | Seating Chart Question
I have a ton of time for this and still haven't got all the rsvp's but have a pretty good idea. I was just thinking about where I would assign everyone and FMIL mentioned briefly one if she would be sitting with my mom (they have met once along time ago and have nothing in common).
Is it weird to have them sit at the same table? I mean honestly it would work out good as far as getting everyone seated and not having extra spaces at tables but I wasn't sure if this was extremely uncommon or not?

Michelle,
I actually had four parent tables (we both have divorced parents)
My dad sat with my step-mom's family
My mom sat with all her friends who had traveled to the wedding
My father in law sat with his wife and his family
My mother in law sat with her family
we actually arranged them so that the first row of tables was us, our wedding party on either side and then the second row was all the parent tables.
Most of them seemed to be fine with it.
We also then put other immediate family, like the rest of the uncles/aunts & grandparents in the third row.
We did put the people with young children in the back and by an exit door (that was also near the restroom) and all of the mom's said they really loved that.
not sure if you can tell how we did this with this picture but I will try to find another picture for you
I hope this helps

Thanks for the info christine. I can totally get what you are saying from the pic! So you and your husband sat at the head table solo?

it was a small table, I think its called the sweetheart table, but it was honestly our only alone time the entire night and I was really happy for it, also I think its easier for everyone to come say hello when you are not at a huge table with other people.
not sure if that makes sense

I don't think it's weird. We had no seating chart but we also had a small group. For us everyone sat where they wanted and it worked fine. At our location people weren't seated long so maybe that's why it didn't really matter. If FMIL wants to sit with your mom and your mom is okay with that I say go for it.
