For the rehearsal dinner, are you actually sampling everything that will be on the menu for your reception dinner or is it just a basic dinner for your wedding party?

The rehersal dinner is done the nite or a couple of nites b4 the wedding. With a destination wedding, most of the girls call it a welcome dinner and invite all of their guests who have travelled to celebrate the wedding. It is often a wonderful way for all of the guests to meet and get to know one another. Traditionally it is hosted by the parents of the groom. BUT, DWs are not so much traditional. Sometimes the bride and groom are paying for everything themselves. The food has nothing to do with what you are serving at your reception, it is completely separate. If you do a search on this forum under "Welcome Dinner" or "Rehersal Dinner", you will find out a lot on how the brides are doing theirs. I hope this helped you somewhat.

thanks lizzy! I just wanted to see if I would be able to sample the food or cake beforehand to make sure that i like it. since i don't have a wedding party, it will just be my FI, FI's parents, and my parents, and myself. Thanks!

I also have a rehearsal dinner question. This is for anyone who is having the reception dinner at Mammee Bay. Where are you having the rehearsal dinner?? I'd like to have it at a different restaurant.
Just wanted to check in with all of you before I email Chandlyn about it!

We're having our rehearsal dinner the night before (Friday). I have talked to Chandlyn about this and we are doing a "run through" of our wedding with her and my wedding party @ 6pm and then we will all meet for dinner at 6:30 pm. She is just pushing a bunch of tables together for us (I think at the buffet dinner) and then we wil all go to the beach party after. I think if you have a small group you can go to one of the restaraunts, but since my group is large we will just do the buffet with the tables together. I have invited everyone to join for dinner, but since most people are arriving that day, we'll give a final count to her when we get there.

I don't think it's really necessary to sample the food. I mean if you're down there ahead of time you go go by and grab a bite but it's not really necessary.
