alternative guest book

Recommended Posts

Has anyone done or doing a photo guest book? I am looking at buying a poloroid camera, letting the guests take pictures of themselves and then having them write a message in a book with their pics. Does anyone have this kind of camera? how long does the battery last, how do the pics turn out, etc? Any advice, suggestions would be appreciated!!

We considered doing this as well until my mother reminded me of a wedding she went to where one drunk guest took 20 pictures of his ass and the whole point was useless. Knowing my family - this is most definitely a possibility with some of them, so we opted for a more traditional guestbook.

However, I have found that after many years, my polaroid photos have faded or yellowed. Not sure if that's common or just how I've been storing them.

We thought about this as well until we went to every camera store in the area looking for a polaroid camera. We ended up finding one but the store owner said it would be a waste of money to buy the camera as they have stopped producing and making the film for polaroids. There is film out there on ebay but it is all expired film. They did say that polaroid is looking to launch a new camera in the future with the polaroid feel to it...however don't waste your money on one as you won't find the fill right now to support your purchase of a camera. I almost found out the hard way because you can buy the cameras online...

Anna- that is hilarious! I didnt even think of that! People at the wedding would for sure do that as both of our families and friends can definately get out of hand....especially with an open bar. There is a new poloroid out that looks like a digital camera but somehow prints out of it. and its inklesshuh.gif Im not sure how that works.

I have a one of these cameras (buried in a drawer somewhere) and haven't used it in awhile. It is true that they have stopped making the film, so I am not sure that a book like this would be a good idea anymore. Though, if you do find some film for it.. the pictures turn our alright. I mean, they arent the most flattering pictures.. but not bad. Also, I think that if you keep the pictures in a photo album (Not letting them sit in a box where a lot of air and dust can get to them) they should not fade too much

We have decided to go with this.. a little easier and still different :)

I'm thinking about doing either the photo guest picture frame (like the one above) or using small dry erase boards. I have seen a few people on here were they took pictures of their guests and their wedding wishes written on a dry erase board. Think that would be pretty cool to put in the wedding album and is different and unique.

I secretly think that my mom's "memory" of the alleged incident may have been a collaborative effort. She gets a little crazy if she's been in the sauce...

I just checked ebay and there is a ton of these cameras for sale. On the "buy it now" section they start at 73 plus 29 shipping. Im wondering if it would be cheaper to buy it all seperately. Im searching for the book but I cant find it..yet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
