Need Help? With getting OOT bag and other wedding stuff down to Mexico

Recommended Posts

I really want to do OOT bags for my guests when getting married in Mexico. I am having about 70-90 guests at the wedding. Since some of them will be singles, when ordering stuff, I got 70 bags for my guests. I found them at Old Navy and when they arrived yesterday, I am dumbfounded by how much space 70 bags take up!

I tried fitting them in suitcases, and realized if i take all 70 bags then it will take up 4 suitcases! That's not going to work, since I also need to get other stuff down to Mexico like my clothes, etc.

Does anyone have suggestions for getting large amounts of stuff down to Mexico for their wedding? I am going to ask some of our guests to take extra suitcases, but I don't want to ask too many.

Shipping rules look complicated. But has anyone shipped anything to Mexico successfully and can you tell me howhuh.gif?? Or does anyone have other suggestions about getting it down there?smile35.gif

Thanks

Oh dear, that's a major concern for a lot of the brides here.

We have asked our guests to save room in their suitcases, and surprizingly, a lot of them were more than happy to do that, because it felt like they were contributing to the wedding.

Plus, if you also have guests that are only going for one week, they may only need one suitcase, leaving you an additional suitcase to fill up.

I know too that other brides have shipped their items down prior to the wedding.

Good luck!!!!

I just got married in Cabo and had a lot of stuff to bring down with me. We had 87 guests attend our wedding! I had a total of 7 boxes (62 linear inches in size; ~ 50 lbs. each) and 2 luggages. I had 2 bridesmaids carry 2 boxes for us and we checked in the rest. They don't recomend shipping stuff to Mexico, so we had to pack everything. Just be sure you weigh all your check-ins...they're strict w/ the weight restrictions! Oh and bring reciepts...the immigration people wanted to see ours since we had so much stuff. I think we looked "suspicious".

Thanks so much for your help guys! I have decided to return these bags, because they are pretty large (I am going to have a fun Sunday at Old Navy returning 70 bags - oh the things we do for our "perfect" wedding) and get a smaller tote that will take less space up.

But wanted to thank all of you for your help. Leia I am going to do the box thing and ask some guests to get stuff down to Mexico in disposable boxes. What a great idea to use boxes, I hadn't even thought of that and was only thinking of using suitcases. Which in no way is as good as boxes!

Thanks again!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
