Not going all out with decor

Recommended Posts

Is anyone not going all out with the wedding decorations? I feel like everyone is buying and making their own decorations. I am just wanting it to be pretty simple and easy DW. lol. Is anyone just doing the bare minim of what their wedding package consist of and hope the the beautiful surroundings will make up for the not so extravagant decorations?

At first, I was happy with just doing the minimum (or whatever came with the package). And David Tutera has said that less is enough sometimes, but now I'm considering bringing my own linens, sashes, and such, or using a local rental place for more decor... I may do that if our guest list gets longer. If our booked guests stays under 20, then we're just sticking with the less concept. THen put the money towards the expensive photographer or a TTD session instead.

Megan, I feel the same way. The hotel gives us options to select different decorations, but I do not intend to bring down much. If anything, I want things to be reused so we can limit what we have to pack. Like have the favors in cute packages to dress up the table. Reuse the bridesmaids' bouquets as centerpieces. Place the program fans on their seats to add color. Etc. Other than that, the beauty of a DW is that the destination should be your major decoration. We think the beach alone is a great scene without adding much to it.

I went with pretty much the bare minimum and am so glad I did!!! It was quick, painless and cheap! Nothing to buy before hand, drag down there, and then have sitting at my house after the wedding hoping to sell.

The only thing we spent extra money on was flowers and we upgraded from white table cloths to a color which was $8 a table.

The wedding was SO much fun...I really loved not getting caught up in everything "wedding" and just enjoying the occassion with those there.

I feel so much better now. lol

I am usually a person who goes to the extreme of over doing everything. My son's birthday party last week we rented a trackless train for it. He is 3 lol

But for some reason when it comes to the wedding. I just do not have the time and honestly the money to go all out. We are paying for our photographer to come and that is taking a lot out of the budget.

Thanks alot girls. I feel better.

I think the other nice thing about not going all out with the decorations is that you won't have to worry about getting it set up or getting someone else to set it up while you're away. You can just spend the days leading up to the wedding and the wedding day relaxing and not worrying about last minute details. I don't mind spending some time with wedding planning now, but once I get down there I'm on vacation!

The only things I'm bringing down for decor are paper lanterns. I'm also bringing small favors that will look nice on the tables. I agree that the beauty of the location shouldn't require much 'dressing up' so I really don't see a need to spend a whole lot of money on flowers and centerpieces.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
