Wedding attire for guests?

Recommended Posts

Is anyone providing the wedding attire on the invitations or their website? Since it is likely that many of my guests have not attended a beach wedding, I thought I would help them out. I was going to add a web page explaining what people should wear but am having a hard time wording it. This is what I have so far? Any suggestions? Or should I just leave this information out?

Since this is a beach vacation, naturally the attire will be casual. There are a couple of restaurants at the resort which require men to wear long pants. Please keep this in mind when packing!

The wedding is "beach formal"

What does this mean? Basically, anything you'd wear to a nice restaurant on a summer day is appropriate.

Here are some suggestions:

He could wear: A light weight, short sleeve, button up shirt (no ties required), linen pants or khakis, and sandals.

She could wear: A summer sundress flat sandals or flip flops. Makeup and hair can be natural and everyday.

Definitely let people know about more formal attire required at restaurants. On our first vacation my Fiance only brought shorts and we couldn't attend the French restaurant. Often they offer pants or jackets in case you forget, but as my guy is of the bigger teddy bear variety, they had nothing for him.

I actually did use beach formal attire on my invitations....but that is all I put. A few people asked what that meant and I said basically sundresses for women, khakis or comparable for guys with a silk camp shirt, Tommy Bahama shirt, hawaiian shirt, etc. and no shorts. No coat and tie for the guys....and everyone is happy!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
