Hello! Any El Cid Spa & Beach Resort in Riviera Maya Brides??

Hi Ladies,

I am a newbie and I am in the initial stages of finding a resort. Were leaning towards El Cid Spa & Beach resort in Riviera Maya. Has anyone stayed or held their wedding at this resort? If so, I really would appreciate any information you can provided me so I can make a decision.

Also, please let me know of any other resorts that meet the following:

1: Reasonable prices

2: All inclusive

3: Children are allowed

Were planning on doing a site visit, but were not positive yet so any resort suggestions are welcomed.

We were initially planning for a wedding in June 2010 however we have moved the date to June 2011. This will allow us to be in a better financial position to have a destination wedding and a reception when we return. I have mentioned our plans to several family members who have indicated they donâ€t get the point of having a reception when we return. I have been told it would be like having two weddings. What do you guys think? Is it common/ok to have a reception after having a destination wedding? Would this be overkill?

Thanks!

Carmen

Hi and welcome to teh forum!

I actually did a site visit at El Cid 1.5 years ago. Its a nice resort but in the lobby it felt kinda like a casino and seemed to have an older vibe...thats just my opinion though! I remember it was reasonably priced and not to huge

I am having my wedding at El Cid in January. I never did a site visit but all of the reviews were good. One of the major deciding factors for me was the responsiveness of the wedding coordinator. It was amazing how hard it was to get some of the hotels to email me back when I was inquiring about holding a wedding there.

Eva (el Cid's WC) has been absolutely wonderful. She have been helping me work out all of the details and has been been on the ball about everything.

I only hope the ceremony goes as well as all the planning has gone, and I am confident that it will.

The rooms were reasonably priced for our guests as well. We went through destinationweddings.com to book the package and coordinate travel for everyone.

Welcome to the forum Carmen! I'm not a Riviera Maya bride but I just wanted to say not to worry about other people's opinions. It's pretty common for destination brides to have an at-home reception to celebrate with those that couldn't make it to the destination wedding. People will complain at first but it normally gets better with time. Happy planning!

Hi Carmen,

Welcome to the forum. I think it's perfectly fine to have an at home reception, especially if not everybody is able to make it out to the destination wedding. It doesn't have to be a big formal wedding reception (although it could be if you wanted to :) ) but I think it's a great way to celebrate with people who couldn't make it to the DW.

Good morning everyone, thank you for your response.

H-Town Liz - I really hope everything goes as you have planned and your day is everything you have wished for. I have also read and seen video's with really good reviews however I have not been able to find many pictures of the wedding setup and decorations. Did the resort provide you with this after you confirmed your reservation.

I am also using destinationweddings.com, my wc is Judy.

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
